The Hospital for Special Surgery is one of the nation's leading hospitals. Located in New York City, HSS is consistently ranked as the very best orthopedic hospital in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. To help meet the growing communication needs of patients, families and, importantly, referring physicians, HSS worked with Acsys to develop a mobile experience that delivers a high touch, user-friendly mobile experience. By offering audiences convenient mobile access, HSS could lead competitors in yet another service area and demonstrate their commitment to patient care at every possible touch point.
Solution
Acsys interviewed a variety of HSS audiences to identify user needs and to help prioritize the mobile app's content and functional elements. Use cases were written to assure that the design and programming teams were aligned before actual development began. A working prototype was created that was used for testing and refining the experience.
Once launched, the app provided easy access to high-value content and functionality such as appointment scheduling, a physician search tool location-based directions, maps and contact info. HSS looks for every opportunity to better serve their constituents and their new mobile app is a tangible demonstration of that commitment.
