Acsys Interactive Does More Than OneThing™ To Help the State Promote Energy Conservation

On Wednesday, September 24, Acsys Interactive launched a new aggregator tool on the State of Connecticut's OneThing™ website (www.onethingct.com).

Drawing from data provided by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, this dynamic aggregator invites website visitors to participate in the OneThing™ energy conservation movement by presenting them with effective solutions to reduce their carbon signatures.

On the OneThing™ website's home page, visitors are invited by the new aggregator to get a better understanding of just how much carbon they use, and how much carbon they could avoid using if they made a few simple changes to their daily routines. From the initial teaser box, visitors can easily navigate to an interactive screen that assesses household data for transportation, energy use, and recycling. At the bottom of that page, the aggregator gives visitors an accurate (and enlightening) figure for estimated emissions that should encourage them to move to the next screen, where they can choose subject areas and pledge to act in ways that will have a positive, measureable impact on the environment, as well as on their wallets.

The aggregator developed by Acsys also allows participants to measure their own pledged savings against the average pledged savings, spurring visitors to go the extra mile to better their neighbors by committing to even greater levels of conservation activity. And that friendly, competitive spirit carries throughout the aggregator's interfaces, culminating in a "How's Your Town Doing?" feature that prompts visitors to save their pledge efforts and add their household savings to their town's tally - bolstering their town's reputation in the energy conservation vanguard.

Designed to accommodate those who are serious about saving time too, the new aggregator allows completion of the entire estimation and pledging process in just minutes. For those with more time, and an interest in the reference data, resources and definitions behind the OneThing™ initiative, informative pop-ups and background pages are easily accessed at any time during the tool's engagement.

In 2006, the State of Connecticut embarked on a landmark journey to change the world - one light bulb, one conservation measure, one constituent - OneThing™ at a time. Conceived by Governor Rell, the OneThing™ movement was borne of her vision for Connecticut as a renewable energy and environmental leader.
